ANNUNCIATION SERIES
Like the stations of the cross, the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary was believed to have clearly defined stages, which once guided the early Renaissance painters.
Called “The Laudable Conditions of the Virgin’, these stages are:
Conturbatio (disquiet)
Cogitatio (reflection)
Interrogatio (inquiry)
Humiliatio (submission)
Meritatio (merit)
Beyond their religious import, these are familiar human states.

LANDSCAPES
In Chinese painting exists a world of illusions which create a world parallel to our own. The calligraphic brush makes the illusion ,and at the same time suggests the emotion .
In the transcriptions ofThe Dwelling of the Immortals amid Streams and Mountains and Wooded Mountain at Dusk the rigour of the strokes makes a quiet theatre. In the Mt.Lu drawing the veils of ink describes the climate mysteriously.
